A shared passion for South American spirit and rhythms brought the three members of Strangelove together to form a unique configuration of strings: Para-Celtic harp, ukulele, and acoustic bass. Also, the fact that they all have strong individual voices gives rise to the chilling vocal harmonies of this delightful trio.
Irish-born harpist Cliona Molins has built on her rich knowledge of Irish music by adding Latin rhythms, while Wendy Twibill (ex Café of the Gates of the Salvation) brings her exquisite voice and harmony-arranging talents to the trio. Wendy has also reinvented the use of the ukulele in the vein of Venezuelan cuatro and vihuela mexicana. The trio’s contagious rhythms, energy, and groove is embodied in the playing of bassist-singer, pierre luniere, who was in the original cast of Jesus Christ Superstar, and has played with the likes of Rock & Roll legend, Johnny O’Keeffe.
Strangelove’s extensive repertoire includes provocative originals, as well as traditional Irish, Venezuelan and Mexican music, reinterpreted with Jazz, Roots and Blues rhythms, plus a few select covers of the likes of Tom Waits, Eddie Vedder, the Beatles and Fleetwood Mac.
