The Northern Beaches Music Festival is proud to announce the creation of the “Young Bloods” Competition with preliminary heats to be staged at multiple venues across the peninsular between 13 January and 10 February 2012. The finals of the competition will be held at the Northern Beaches Music Festival (17 – 19 February 2012). Our aim is to nurture and support young up and coming musical talent on the Northern Beaches. We wish to acknowledge and thank the great venues who have joined with us in this venture who all have a tradition of supporting young talent on the Peninsular.

Venues

The venues staging the preliminary heats are:

• Avalon RSL
• Mona Vale Hotel
• Terry Hills Tavern
• Surgar Lounge (Manly)

The preliminary heats will be run in each venue over a 4 – 5 week period culminating in three winners from each venue (first, second and most popular) making 12 venue winners to be announced on 10 February. These 12 winners will compete at the Festival on the Free Stage on Saturday and Sunday mornings between 9.00am and 11.00am where our festival judges will select the Ultimate “Young Blood” winner and the Most Popular “Young Blood” winner. Their victory will be announced on Sunday on the Free Stage at 12.00 noon.

Prizes

The festival and sponsors have been able to put together a selection of prizes. These prizes are:

1. Both the First and Most Popular “Young Blood” winners will provide a “victory” performance on the main stage in the Marquee at 1.00pm Sunday. Each will be given 15 minutes to showcase their extraordinary talent to our largest audience amongst some of the festival’s high profile main acts. 2. Each will receive a multi-camera vision mixed and multi-channel audio DVD recording of their victory performance sponsored by Fwoin Multi Media Productions. 3. Each will receive a recording session sponsored by Billy Hyde Mona Vale at MVM studios. 4. There will also be a prize package of sponsored audio and musical equipment as yet to be determined. We wish to thank the producers of each venue for their cooperation and involvement. All applicants should apply to these producers for spots in the competition. All contestants may compete at all venues until that contestant has won a heat at a particular venue. Once this has occurred they may not compete at any other venue.
